State Convention Awards At the recent state convention the club won the following awards:

  1. The Onda Harris Membership Retention Award for retaining 95% of the members from the previous year
  2. The Helen Blaker Award and large trophy for the highest number of members under the age of 30
  3. The Helen Blaker Award for the highest number of new members
  4. The Ring the Bell Award for the highest percentage of new members
  5. The Outstanding Newsletter
  6. The Outstanding Media Coverage runner-up
  7. The Miriam Sturgeon Award for overall club successes
    This is a high honor and tribute to everyone’s hard work.

The officers were installed by Jill Jarvis using a chocolate theme. Service has its rewards–in chocolate candy bars appropriate to each office!

State VP This club is honored that one of our members Diane Fisher, has been elected as state vice president. She’ll be moving up the chairs and we will be supporting her all the way. Congratulations to Diane!

Reality Store’09
Another huge success! Thanks to Ramona Hinesley and the many members and community volunteers, Reality Store ’09 was another feather in our cap! Two new ideas worked great: Set up was a breeze with help from the Youth Service Bureau and the new Fickle Finger of Fate was popular with the students.

Rich and Easy Chocolate Mousse
12 oz. semisweet chocolate bits
1 Tbs. Vanilla
pinch salt
3 cups heavy cream
6 egg yolks
1-2 Tbs. Rum (optional)
Place chocolate, salt and vanilla in blender. Heat cream to boiling point, but DO NOT BOIL. Pour into blender, blend 30 seconds. Add egg yolks (and rum); blend 5 seconds. Pour into custard cups. Chill at least 3 hours. Serve with whipped cream. Makes 12 small servings.
